One of them was rotated 90° compared to how it should have been. It turns out that the end caps were not square by 1/4" so when I corrected the mistake the metal bottom was too short.”

Duct Taping Leaking Pipes
If you have a leaking pipe in your house, never ever use duct tape to stop the leak. It’s a good temporary fix, but certainly not a permanent one. The new homeowners will have to fix your mistake and they won’t be happy about it.
